Programs
Our goal is to coordinate players’ hand-eye coordination and active thinking through a variety of basic exercises. They will learn together through fun games and will be introduced to skills that will benefit their future development through tennis and other sports. The coaches’ expectations will be made very clear before each exercise in a supportive and uplifting atmosphere.

We are excited to share that Calgary Tennis Society has been selected to receive a Community Development Grant from Canadian Tire Jumpstart and Sport Canada. This grant will go a long way towards helping us to bring tennis to low income and BIPOC communities.

4–6 Year Old Training
For this age group, the key focus will be to work on the kid’s ability of ball control such as throwing, catching, reaction exercises, and cone catching exercises. By the end of the program, we would like the kids to be comfortable hitting forehand and backhands over the net and understanding how to properly use the skills they learn when a tennis ball is thrown to them.
7–10 Year Old Training
For this age group, the key focus is to get the kids to comfortably repeat the tennis technique’s they learn such as forehand, backhand, and serve. They will be working on their tennis skills through groundstroke games and cooperative challenges. By the end of the program, we hope to get the kids rallying with a partner and that they will have control over the ball that they hit over the net.
11+ Year Old Training
For this age group, proper groundstroke shot techniques will be pushed and the coaches will go in depth demonstrating a proper forehand, backhand, serve, and volley shot. The coaches will try to set a proper base in their tennis development so that they can understand how to advance their tennis game. We hope to get this age group to feel comfortable in longer rallies with a partner and hope to play some rally type cooperative/competitive games.
